The below article appeared in the print version of Sakal Agrovon on 10th October 2024, Thursday. The article is the outcome of a project that was completed under Dr. Ketaki Barve, who was, at the time Assistant Professor at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune.
The project was regarding the Evaluation of the Potential Challenges of Small Scale Tropical Fruit/Food Processing Industries from Konkan belt of Maharashtra. You can read the Project Report by clicking here.
The study aims to evaluate the current processing status of tropical fruits such as Mango, Cashew, Jackfruit, Kokum, Karonda and Jamun in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Kokan region in Maharashtra. It also aims to identify the major challenges faced by these small scale industries in achieving growth and sustainability.
